Silkie's Chicken and Champagne Bar

It looks cute on the inside. It's kinda like an upscale fast food. You order and pay at the counter, they provide you with a number to display at your table and a server will bring your food/ drinks to your table. The servers I encountered were all very friendly and helpful and took the time to explain the menu. I ordered a biscuit by itself as a starter and had the great American for dinner. The sole biscuit had food flavor but, unfortunately, was a little dry. The toppings were yummy though. The great American also had good flavor and i loved the waffle fries. However, all in all, I don't think it was worth the money I spend. I think the food was over priced.

This place was great!! The chicken was moist and flavorful. Service was attentive and was routinely asking if you need anything else. It is quite pricey for the meal that you get but I feel it was worth it to me. I got the St. Augustine sandwich and my wife got some classic chicken and waffles. Both amazing. The truffle Mac and cheese was delicious too but you definitely have to love truffle to enjoy it.

From the reviews I had higher expectations. We got the catfish & grits and the mac & cheese w/ jerk chicken, and the strawberry cobbler. I think both were overpriced. The catfish & grits- the catfish was fried & seasoned perfectly, the greens were so spicy I couldn't eat them, the grits were good but too watery & definitely not enough for $25. The mac & cheese was medicore & needed more seasoning or more salt. The jerk chicken was good but not spicy at all. The strawberry cobbler was just nasty. We took 1 bite & threw it out. The customer service was great, staff was nice. But from the reviews, prices, & menu I expected a more upscale atmosphere. It was hot & muggy. The self-service silverware was dirty. The food was served in to-go container & rugged pan. For the price I expected more.

Ok honestly, this is a great place for a foodie. The different options on the biscuit sampler is a great way to get to know the message from the kitchen. The prices are slightly above average but the service is outstanding. The southern charm / Duval love service is greatly appreciated and it helps you forget the price of the food. The wait staff understands the mission. The portions are nice sized and as a cookie expert my only negative comment would be to by pass the big cookie. At $3 they are too expensive and average in taste.

Where do I begin? We walked in and the woman behind the counter handed us menus. I asked if we were seating ourselves and she said, "yes, after you place your order". We'd never been there before so it was taking us a while to decide on what we wanted. I asked if we could sit and take a moment to decide on what we were having. She again said no, we needed to order first. So we ordered. I pulled out my wallet and she said, "My love, we don't accept cash. We're a card only establishment." So you're expected to order, pay first and tip before you are seated or receive your food.... On to the food. I ordered jerk chicken with grits and collards. The food was layered in a bowl. We're still trying to figure out if I had grits or oatmeal because of the texture of the food. The jerk was really spicy. The dish was lackluster. We also got chicken and waffles. The chicken was over cooked and there were crunchy things in the waffles. Still not sure what they were. The waitress asked how the food was and I told her I didn't like the dish. She didn't offer me any other options. Her reply was, "I'll take note of that". We're never going back.
